Seth in Santiago: Copper Mines

Hello lovely people. Santiago is pretty great so far. We went to these copper mines South of Santiago last weekend called El Teniente. It's the largest subterranean mine in the world. Copper mining is a really importat part of Chilean history. We took a tour inside the mine, and in the now abandonded village of Sewell where the North American employees lived in the 1920s-60s up until the nationalization of the mines when the North American companies were kicked out the country. The town was really interesting, all these abandonded buildings in with some Art Deco touches, but with the Andes as a background.
